I have just recovered windows XP back to it's original setting by using destructive recovery. I have done this as I want to sell the machine. Will there still be any files on the HDD from the earlier system that the new user would be able to recover, or does destructive recovery mean just that and it completely wipes the drive before recovering?
I just want to make sure there is nothing left on the HDD before I sell the machine, apart from the XP OS
Thanks

Solution
only way to make sure no one can get your stuff is to either destroy the drive or scrub it multiple times and then reinstall Windows fresh

DBAN *was* a good tool not sure now - check (google it)

Excellent thanks. I was hoping that a destructive restore would do the trick :)
