Hello people here at Tom's Hardware! I was recently given a old monitor by a relative of mine who did not want it anymore. Now, I only have a VGA lying around the house, but my Gigabyte 7870 does not support VGA, but my motherboard does. So, I was wondering if I could possibly use my onboard VGA for my second monitor while using my 7870's HDMI for my main monitor?

The motherboard I am using is a Gigabyte M68MT-S2.
While my graphics are the Gigabyte 7870.

Solution

Your 7870 should have one dual link DVI-I port, one HDMI port, and two mini DisplayPort ports. The HDMI and DisplayPort ports are naturally digital only but the DVI-I port can output both digital and analog signals. Just grab a passive DVI-I/DVI-A to VGA adapter and plug it in.
