I am staying at a place this week that advertised free wifi. However, when I logged on I now see all the computers that are logged on as well - they are listed under "Network" on MY computer.
I have never seen this before. Can someone please tell me what is going on?
The internet is very, very slow. You can't even watch a YouTube video on it.
Nonetheless, I really don't like opening up windows and seeing all those computers under "Network."
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

When you configure internet access on a computer and choose LAN, Windows binds all services to it by default.

If you do not want see everyone else who has their services bound to their LAN interface (wireless or wired), you can go into network configuration and edit properties to un-bind IPv4/IPv6 from Client for Microsoft Network and Print/File sharing.

Or you can use the network setup wizard to setup a connection over a public network.
