How much improvement would a GTX 780 give me?

I currently have a GTX 650 ti boost 1 GB, I bought it because I was on a budget and didn't think I'd upgrade anytime soon. However I spent the summer working a part time job and before I go to school I was thinking about getting the GTX 780 since I only game on the PC. Would it be worth the upgrade or should I wait for Radeons new series? I'm only upgrading because of FFXIV but I suppose I could see what Radeon offers

Solution
Like I said though if you have an sli motherboard you could pick up another ti boost and get similar performance to the 780 for another 159 or so dollars in place of the 600 for the 780

Check out the review, I was impressed.

It looks like you would double your performance.

You also require an adequate CPU to prevent bottlenecking in many games. An i5-3570K or similar CPU is fine.

Wait?
There will always be a new graphics card. Occasionally I say wait, but I don't think release is close enough.

The GTX770 (such as the Asus DC2 OC version) is also a very powerful card for $425. There are currently only a few games that "need" more power such as Crysis 3, FC3 etc though these games still look great once you tweak (I advise you run at 60FPS VSYNC'd).

I love my GTX680 so I'm not upgrading for a long time, but if I was going to it would be THIS CARD:

EVGA GTX780 (with ACX cooler and backplate) $660

**Be CAREFUL which model of 780 you get. The reference design looks nice but there are much better performers for about the same price. EVGA has several different models but the one linked above is best. For $660 it's only $10 more than a different EVGA 780 model but it has a far higher clock speed.

I'm not sure how you get a backplate (I think it's $20?) but I recommend you do so to prevent drooping that can damage the tracings.
