My Core i7 3770K is running at it's default clock speed of 3.5GHz, but it idles at ~50 *C for some reason using a ZALMAN CNPS9900X air cooler.

I am considering upgrading to the Corsair H80i liquid CPU cooler.

Do you think this upgrade is a good decision?

Well, two things. First, if you're idling at 50C, it's not (entirely) the fault of your present cooler. You're looking at a combination of the cooler not being seated properly and the voltage being too high.

If you do reseat the cooler and get that voltage figured out, and the temps are still to high, then the H80i is a great upgrade from the Zalman.
