Is it okay to overclock a CPU with a name brand (prebuilt) mobo?

In this case an Acer mobo inside of a Gateway DX4870-UB308 Desktop

The CPU is a i3-2130, which I know has a locked multiplier, so would have to OC it by 105-107%. May not seem like a big improvement but it would really help this CPU keep up with the games I'm playing.

Basically I want to know if there's any real risk involved that could cause damage to any of the components or if it's safe to do even on a crappy Acer mobo.

The full specs of my desktop:

i3-2130 3.4 Ghz Dual Core
6 GB RAM
Enermax 450W PSU
XFX Radeon 7850 1 GB GDDR5 RAM

Yea I figured the mobo was the biggest reason I shouldn't do it. Good to know. Thanks guys

It's just annoying because I'm not getting the performance out of the CPU I'm supposed to. It's not a virus of anything but according to futuremark, my CPU should score around 4000 with their benchmarks (3D Mark 11 I think). My most recent test with it only yielded 3683 so I just want to get better performance out of it. It kind of struggles with GTA IV, AC 3, and can't really push it too hard with BF3.
