Hi,
I'm trying to operate a Casio keyboard with Audacity, a free music software. My Windows 7 computer, will recognize the keyboard, and reports the drivers for the Casio USB MIDI are working fine. However, the music software - Audacity - won't detect any audio inputs. Audacity, won't detect any audio inputs. What could be wrong and what should I do?

Solution
You're trying to send piano sound over midi. It doesn't work that way (Midi is a "command" signal, there's no actual sound in it).

If you want to record your Casio keyboard sound you need to use its analogic output to your soundcard line input (microphone input will have a lot of noise if you send line level signal in it).

Hi, I appreciate your answer. Yes, your right, and that makes sense when I think about it that way. I suppose I just
expected the USB to be a magical tool to do everything, including transmitting analogic output.
