Setting up dual monitors with Integrated card and external card.

This is my first time setting up dual monitors. I have an ATI 5670 and an ATI 3000 card onboard, I'd like to set up two VGA displays together.

Currently I plugged in primary display with an adapter into the DVI port on the external card. There are no more DVI ports there, just two more HDMI ports.

So I was thinking, if I attach the second monitor into the VGA port on the internal card will it work or not?

If your plugging it into another monitor if I read correctly then It shouldn't work. It need to connect to an Video Output from the PC. If you cant do that then it wont work...

I have a AMD 5670 and have two monitors plugged into it with no problems.. Check your cables.

check if your monitors have DVI connections you could use, also to use the integrated graphics you need to go into your bios and look for an option called surround view and enable it.

You should have 1 Display Port on top, followed by a HDMI port, and then a DVI port on the bottom of the card. HDMI and DVI are very cross compatible and if both of your monitors are DVI then you can plug one directly into the card, and then get a DVI to HDMI cable for your 2nd monitor. If for whatever reason you want to use both the onboard AND the GPU then that should be possible as well. Go into BIOS/CMOS/UEFI and look in your graphics preferences. There ought to be something about "Display First" which should have options for "INT" (internal graphics), "EXT" or "PCIe" (your GPU), and newer motherboard typically have an option for both. Simply select the 'both' option and then you can mix and match monitors.
There are some limitaitons when using multiple cards as display outputs like this. Primarially, when gaming there is no nice way to stretch the game across monitors connected to different cards. There are hacks around this... but you may end up with some really weird graphical and performance issues. For general web browsing and office work it is not typically an issue... but you ahve a GPU mroe than capable of hooking up 2 monitors, so why not use it?

Yeah my secondary monitor is pretty old but the adapter should do the trick.
