Hi guys, this should be a quick question, which should i upgrade too? a "MSI GeForce GTX 660 Twin Frozr III/OC NVIDIA Graphics Card - 2GB" or a "XFX HD 7870 2GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Dual Mini DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card", i'm deciding between these two so i would rather not have any more expensive alternate options unlesws you feel they are totally necessary, im going for a card that would play games like Rome 2 and GTA 5 (if its ever released) and probably battlefield 4 and wasnt sure which was the best, thanks!

Can you detail what the rest of your system is, CPU/ Mobo/PSU etc. We can give a more educated answer then.
The 7870 is faster in most benches.

Your PSU is a good one, and your CPU is no slouch. It's not the best CPU by any stretch, but still a decent performer. The 7870 would be a good balanced match with your system. Overclocking your FX might give you a 10% + FPS increase with the new GPU, so it would be worth doing that, depending on what mobo you have.

Saying that, personally, and if the few extra quid weren't a hassle for you, I would recommend the GTX760 over either though. Depending on where you live, the GTX760 should be cheaper than a 660ti, perform better than a 660ti/7870, and should be in competition with a 7950. It's great performance for the money.

+1 for GTX 760. Outperforms HD 7950 Boost in benchmarks and costs nearly same. $250 approx.
But keep one thing in mind, all of the GPUs you listed would be bottlenecked by your current CPU. Upgrade it as fast as you can to FX 6300 or better.

One more thing, you should not have much trouble upgrading your CPU since your motherboard should be AM3+ socket. In my opinion, go for one of the following options -

1) GTX 760 + FX 6300 ($250 Approx. for GPU)
2) HD 7870 XT / Myst. + FX 6300 ($200 Approx. for GPU)

Now pay more attention to "XT / Myst." here since it means a lot. That means that HD 7870 XT is much faster than HD 7870 GHz Edition as it has the core of HD 7950 inside it. It would easily outperform any 7870 out there with ease and is a very decent performer. Runs head to head with GTX 660 Ti in benchmarks.

If you are tight on budget then HD 7870 XT / Myst. is advised over GTX 660 / HD 7870 GHz Edition.
Otherwise GTX 760 beats them all.

No worries. Its all good. :)

And yes, if you find HD 7950 anywhere around $200 - $230 then its a good idea to go for it. Its as good as GTX 760 price - performance wise and you would not notice the difference between the two ever in any game.
