Hi all,

I am building a new PC which will be used for gaming but also want it to be able to do other things like video editing and maybe a bit of 3D rendering.

Case: Corsair 600T
CPU: Intel i7 4770K
MB: ??
GPU: ??
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x8GB 1600 MHz
PSU: ??

Any help with the missing components, or suggestions for improvement on the build would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking about getting the ASUS Maximus VI Formula motherboard.

Thanks in advance

If you are using Adobe apps then you should consider the Nvidia 770 instead. It would perform better with the Adobe programs.
1. Asus Maximis IV Formula
2. MSI Z87 GD65

1. MSI Gaming N770 TF 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 770
2. Equivalent from Asus or Gigabyte

PSU - Corsair TX V2or XFX Core Edition for moderate OC's, 650 for 1 card, 850 if considering SLI .... if ya want better OCs, Corsair HX or AX series, Seasonic X sereis

Probably around the $1000 mark if possible. Trying to keep the total build cost at around $2500.

Thanks

Good choice of parts.
If the Z87-GD65 is at all like the Z77 version, you'll like that board.
A single GTX770 or HD7970 ought to do well for you. Choose depending on what your video software can best use; either would be excellent for games. A single card will run fine on a 550W Seasonic "G" series PSU.
As to the cooler, $60 will buy a very nice air-cooler like a Noctua or Phanteks.
You'll need somewhat more for a good CLC, perhaps $100-$110.

So far the MSI Z87-GD65 and the MSI N770 TF 2GD5/OC looks like a good combination and will look nice in the case.

I still like the Maximus VI Formula but is there really much difference between the two performance wise?

Thanks for your help so far
