I have a Samsung 840 Pro SSD and it used to boot my computer in 10 seconds or less (it would flash the Windows 8 logo for 1 second) When it boots everything works perfect.
Now when i turn it on it takes roughly a minute!?...I've had this build working completely fine for about 4 weeks now. When it boots everything works perfectly.
Here is a couple of things that I did before this problem started happening: I added a laptop hdd and after Booting to it once I decided to remove it.
I downloaded an emulator from the windows 8 store.
and I went on Google, Google Plus, Facebook, Youtube. Normal sites.
Here is a couple of things I did to help this issue: I went into the bios and discovered the system was not on Windows 8 mode. I changed it back and it booted up in roughly 12 seconds. So, I rebooted it and it did the same. The next morning it took a minute to boot. By now I have my head in my hands wondering what i have done. So I disable all startup programs...no luck same speed...So, I turn on fast startup...No luck same speed. I did a reset of the system by holding down the Power Button for 4 seconds and booting it back up...this time it went in about twelve seconds...So i rebooted it to see if this has solved the problem...no luck same issue...I tried everything in my ability
It is in AHCI mode...my motherboard is the Gigabyte hudson D4 F2A85X-D3H...Please Help Me

when is the last time you let trim and garbage collection do their thing? you need to log out, not shutdown, and leave it at the login prompt overnight. set power options to let the screen dim but dont let the pc sleep.

I tried everything in this forum, but it starts up in about 12 seconds which is the way it was a while ago...if i leave my pc off for a couple of hours I will see if it boots up in 12 seconds or less again...
Once again thanks for the help

I'm wondering if your BIOS might be losing data. How old is your mainboard? Have you checked the BIOS battery mount to be sure the battery is held properly?

I ask this because you say your BIOS was not set to Windows 8, and it sounded like that suprised you.

You might also want to check your trim functionality.

My Motherboard is roughly 5 weeks old. And I check my Trim functionality shortly.

http://thessdreview.com/daily-news/latest-buzz/trimcheck-does-your-ssd-really-have-trim-working/

It's the only thing I've found that actually checks to see if TRIM is working. Everything else just checks to see if TRIM *should* be working.

That's the problem?
I built this computer 5 weeks ago and haven't experienced any trouble with until now. And I cannot go back because I only bought windows 8.

In a roundabout way he might be onto something. How much free drive space do you have on that drive? Every version of Windows bloats faster and more impressively than the last. If you are running out of drive space on the SSD, you might not be getting good performance out of it regularly, because it's having to constantly maintain itself. There might be an improvement in handling between Windows 8 and 7, as a general rule, but I haven't seen anything that clearly indicates this with authority.

I used 42 gigabytes and there is 77 Gigabytes available on this 128 gigabyte ssd

I could set an Over Provisioning with Samsung Magician. I have read up on this and they already optimize the free space, but you can choose to add more space...Should I?

That's exactly what my thoughts were...so I disabled all apps at startup...I still have the same issue

Really wish someone would code a tool like GPUz except for SSD's. Not necessarily to actually make SSD's do anything, but rather to help identify potential SSD issues.
