Hello, so I have two 670s in SLI and a 3930k @ stock ( rest of rig in signature also please disregard OC I had to revert back) one is a gigabyte windforce x3 which is the first card edition and the other a palit *non jetstream* version which is the second. The problem is my FPS in probably all games are horrible but I'll use BF3 as an example. When playing TDM on close quarter map i'm averaging around 80 fps when playing grand bazzar, conquest. I average around 50 fps, that's even worse than when I had my 2500k and one 670 which always set at a solid 60 fps.

I'll read a few stats from evga precision x GPU1-Gigabyte model GPU2- palit model

GPU1 usage-max 96%
GPU2 usage-max 97%

GPU1 clock Mhz-max 1137
GPU2 clock Mhz-max 1084

GPU1 temperature- Max 59c
GPU2 temperature- Max 65c

GPU1 power-max 69%
GPU2 power-max 96% :ouch: I don't understand that

So there are a few things which could be causing it which I think

1. CPU is bottlenecking it, which I think is very unlikely because even when I had my CPU overclocked to 4.2 it still had the same issue.

2.GPU 1 *gigabyte model* is not downclocking itself to meet the 915Mhz clock on the palit version which is stock.

I think this is the problem personally, as you can see by my monitored reports clock, power and usage are no were near the same.

3. Now this is a shot in the dark but my motherboard could have insufficent power going to it. The only reason i think that is because whenever I plug fans into the motherboard the start then stop the start up and stop continuously, I don't know why.

So please anyone with a good understanding of this problem feel free to post your thoughts i'll be happy to read them.

Solution

What is your resolution, SLI does not scale well on a single monitor that is not above 1200p<? Overclock your 3930K a bit if so, the lower the resolution, the more CPU dependent.

Sorry forgot about that, I'm playing 1920x1080p on high. I said though when my CPU was Overclocked to 4.2Ghz and there was still little to no improvement so I don't think it's a cpu bottleneck.

Ding ding ding, you'll need another monitor to take advantage of SLI. The reference cards do not have as many power phases as the windforce and delivery is different. I would suggest you get another Windforce 670 and sell the Palit one.

Thanks mate I knew it had something to do with the palit being reference and such. Great answer man
