I am having a weird scenario. I am an IT professional but for some reason can't figure this one out.

I have a Motorola cable modem, hooked up to a tplink wireless router. Everything is open besides the wireless security of course. So no protocols or packets are being blocked from my end.

If I plug a laptop into the ethernet connection all is great. If I plug my xbox 360 or bluray player into the same ethernet connection it will not pull an IP address. Everything is set for dhcp, and the tplink wireless router is the dhcp server. My tplink wireless router shows activity on the port, but the devices will not connect properly.

I thought it was a bad terminal, however I just cutoff the old and terminated the cable again with the same results.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking it may be my ISP but am not sure they would limit specific devices? Am i missing something here?

Couple things to think of...

First, have you tried power cycling the tplink after you disconnect the working device, before plugging in the new non-working device.
Second, how many addresses are set to be handed out by the tplink?
Third, are there any other security settings limiting or stopping a valid address from getting handed out to the other device? If the first suggestion above works, I am guessing this or 2 is the case.
