The 660 is one rung above the 650ti boost on toms performance chart. I would also trust it to last better than the boost, as that is a Tweaked lesser card.

Go with the second one (GTX 660), its way better than GTX 650. And what is the PSU brand/model ?

My bad, your over the pond. I would get the 660, because I think it will last longer. The 560 ti is not an old card. You have picked, in my opinion, the best make and cooler version. Did he overclock the crackers out of the dead one? It didnt last very long. Get the 660. He wont notice any performance difference with the boost, as it is only one rung higher than the last one.

You would drop to msi over $7 was it? From an asus cu-top
to an msi? MSI unless my memory fails of cheeky over volting tweaks fame? oh ho ho i should coco. I bet I know which would last longest.

Please explain, would the MSI work with his motherboard? Is it better than the 660?

They are just different brands.
The msi 660 is similar to the asus 660, but put together by msi instead of asus.
So tho almost identical, For me its a matter of trust and I trust asus more than msi esp as msi were caught cheating recently.
