I just purchased an Asus GTX 770. After Installing it i noticed that it is hanging / bent. The graphics card itself works fine but im concerned that the bending is going to have some negative longterm effects on my gpu.

Is this normal or do i have a defective unit?

Also i really do not understand why it is even having this issue due to the fact that this video card has a backplate. Shouldn't that actually give it more support and stop it from bending like this? I have owned quite a few video cards and have never had an issue like this.(granted none of them were ever of this quality or weight..)

It's heavy, its normal. All cards sag over time, can't cause an issue.

It should be okay, I have the same card (albeit a 670) and mine has a minor amount of sag, I would maybe take a look at the tension on your PCI cables, if they are pretty tight they could be dragging it down some. Also, I think it would look much worse, but I recall in installing mine that I had to remove 1 backslot lower than I expected to, the one it seemed like it would line up with was actually one slot too high, so I put that backslot cover back in and removed the 2 below it.

Make sure that you don't have the issue I described, the more I look at your pic the more I think it might be the same problem.

My card does the same. Same brand as well. I bought a gigabyte one to run in SLI, and it doesn't lean at all. I don't think it will cause a problem. It runs great. If it stops running great i will RMA it.
