So I just put together my new computer yesterday and I noticed a high pitched squeeling sound coming from the GPU while I was running a benchmark test.

After a few google searches, I found that this is apparently a fairly common issue in this specific card, and can be attributed to coil whine.

Is this dangerous for the card or the rest of the system? Should I RMA it?

I would send that back for a new one. Coil whine in a EVGA GTX 770 is not common, but it does happen. Send it back and get one that doesn't do that.

Coil whine is pretty common. If it happens under load I'd live with it, every card I've had has done it, but if it were to do it at idle I'd return it. If you feel its not acceptable then return it but theres nothing to say the one you get back will be just as bad or worse.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's more common on AMD cards, which you tend to run in your system.

It's less common on an EVGA card. I wouldn't just live with it if its early and there's an opportunity to send it back even to the store, rather than a full RMA.

Funny, I just saw that other thread with the guy complaining about coil whine when he overclocks his GTX 770.

Couldn't say. Both the Nvidia cards I've had did it, as did the two AMD ones, probably down to luck rather than build quality or brand.

It depends on how bad it is, how often you notice it, and how long you've had your card. I can tell you that the MSI RMA process is not exactly the best and there's a good chance you'll end up with a used card that someone else returned for RMA. Speaking from experience.
