How is the printer connected? MP620 can be in WiFi, Ethernet or USB.

Avast could be blocking a port on the system. Try uninstalling it and see if the printer works again. You could also fully remove the printer from Device Manager, and re-install it using a different port. You need to keep some sort of anti-virus installed, Avast or something else, AVG, MS Security

I am new at this and will try to explain what has happened. I loaded Avast and ran a full system scan. Result every thing worked fine except I Could not connect to my printer ( Canon MP 620 0 which I have had for years. I finally located the CD with software for the printer and reinstalled it. I can still not connect to the printer. I have not disconnected it so it must be in software at least I am thinking that, It is set for port 1 and the computer is set for port on also. Don't know what else to tell about it. Thanks again
