getting blue screens after upgrade, which component is causing this?

Since i upgraded my PC (graphics card and motherboard), i have been getting loads of crashes. Can anyone help me find out which component is causing this?
I heard other people having problems with their power supply after upgrading their gfx card.

Its the GPU; I can guarantee: 0x116 is one of the two GPU specific BSOD messages:

Bug Check 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.

For whatever reason, the display driver is crashing, then is unable to properly restart, leading to the BSOD. Either the hardware itself is faulty, or you have a driver problem.

Take a photo of the blue screen, if it goes away fast and you can't read it. See if it mentions any DLL file. If it does, it's usually some driver. Did you reinstall Windows after the upgrade, or at least the drivers for the motherboard and graphics card?


Another thing: if you get the crashes only while playing games, you may need a larger PSU or better cooling.

Did you completely reload Windows? If not, it's a wonder your PC boots at all due to all the mismatched drivers on it.
Otherwise, please provide your full system specs, including the brand and model (not just wattage) of the PSU. A PSU that ran an integrated card, HD6450 or GT430 just fine before, might choke on a HD7850 or GTX660.

I don't get any blue screen at all, my pc just freezes (including sound). I know it's gonna keep freezing for one minute every three minutes after that so i restart my PC. But last time i got it (which is when i decided i really should ask help to get this fixed) my pc just crashed and restarted, the only reason i know it's a bluescreen is because it says taht in the error log. And it has everything a bluescreen usually have apart from the actual blue screen itself.

Yes, i did a complete reload. Or at least they did. My old gfx broke, so i brought it back to the store for my warrantly. But i wanted a better gfx card anyway so i opted to just get the price reduced on my new one. So while it was there, they were nice enoguh to give me a free motherboard upgrade aswell. So my whole pc was reïnstalled, and since they had to do it for free since it was under warranty i jsut let them fix everything.

Hmmm...a storebought PC...since it is so common among many brands, I'm going to take a wild guess here that the PSU is where they cut corners, and it will be something like a Logisys, Apevia, Diablotek, or Raidmax; basically junk not fit for purpose. Let us know what it is.

I was going to build my pc myself, and I compared prices and found out my local store like only 25€ more expensive in the grand total of around 1800€. So i found it worth paying that to be able to bring my pc back if anything went wrong. And they said that for such a PC they would build it for free, so i didn't risk getting any broken parts. I'm pretty sure the psu was good enough for my old pc, but gtx 570 -> gtx 780 + new motherboard is a pretty big upgrade, so maybe it's not good enough anymore now.

this is my psu, the corsair tx650m.

Ok, that's a good PSU, so it shouldn't be that.
Is the hard drive light on solid when it crashes? Delete and recreate your Windows swap file. Run a program like HDDTUNE to check the health of your drives (don't run it often on your SSD as it will shorten the drive's life).
Run Memtest86+ also to test your RAM.

What does this file do? Where can i find it? What will change when i remake it?

Did that, it's said health stauts ok for both my ahrd drives.


which version do i need? and how does this program work?
