C P U Upgrade

Solution
I would get a different PSU when you can. Raidmax PSU's are junk at best. You can get buy with that HDD for now. So CPU/MB/Ram and possibly Windows will be needed from what I am gathering here. Here are my picks for the hardware. Just add the 64 bit version of Windows you want to the list if you need it. I also included an aftermarket cooler.

What would you recommend for around $100 that's compatible?

I honestly wouldn't bother upgrading to another dual core. Programs have started to take advantage of more than 2 cores and it will only continue down this path. What is your total budget and what components do you have that can possibly be reused in a system rebuild?

the only thing I can reuse is the GeForce gtx 650 video card im not sure it the hard drive is useless its not that old but I don't know if it has programmed itself to that motherboard, I would say a couple hundred on a motherboard/cpu combo another 100 on a harddrive and windows 8 if I have to get a new key. this comp is used for gaming if that help its starting to get jumpy while playing sometimes

I would not be enthusiastic about upgrading that motherboard.
But, if you do, a phenom II X4 9xx of some sort might fit your budget.

If that is an HP case, that will probably have to go as well. The motherboard connector will most likely not work on a different board without some rewiring work. You wouldn't need a new hard drive as long as it SATA. Windows will possibly be necessary too. If the PSU you have is handling that GTX 650 fine now, it probably is OK too. What ram do you have? Also are you sure that is the correct motherboard? Your CPU now is an AM2 chip and that is an AM3 board. :/
