Hi. I recently built a haswell i5 pc. Specs are:
intel i5 4670k cpu
hyper wqw EVO cup cooler
MSI z87-g41 mobo
8gb of Kingston hyperx 1600 ram (2x4gb)
Older hdd (250gb at 5400 rpm)
SAPPHIRE 7870 ghz edition
My PSU is an older one that used to power my friends build. After I built the pc, I found out that the psu is not a very good one (Apevia brand). While playing Planet side 2 today, my computer restarted. My temps were ok, so I think it is my psu going bad. All the other parts (minus the hdd) are brand new. I would like to keep the cost down, so is this psu ok? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171031

For a system using a single AMD reference design Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 28 Amps or greater and have at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

System restarts could definitely be a sign of not enough juice been supplied under load especially since Planet Side 2 is a pretty intensive game and I wouldn't run a Apevia with such a build and you mention it's a older one capacitors age so it's not even going to be supplying its current wattage. Also that power supply is fine for a budget I used the exact same power supply for a FX8150 and a HD7870 for a friends build 8 months going strong. And the 4670K is a lot more efficent than the 8 core AMD Processor so answer to your question is yes it is okay. I'd say if you want to save money and want a good quality PSU although that coolermaster will suffice than this.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

The Corsair CX500 (SKU# 75-001667 / CP-9020047) power supply unit, with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 38 Amps and with two (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is more than sufficient to power your system configuration with a single Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition graphics card.

CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 $59.99 ($39.99 after $20.00 rebate card)

The Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus Series PSUs are crap because they can't even deliver the power stated on their label.

Ok. So the rosewill one will work, but i should probably go with the corsair? I will probably OC my cpu to 4.2 and OC my gpu to 1150 or so. Im ordering this tonight btw. Right now, assuming i have enough money, ill get the corsair. If I dont have enough money I will grqb that rosewill.

Which Rosewill PSU? Clicking on all of the links in the above replies doesn't show any Rosewill PSUs.

If it's the Rosewill CAPSTONE-450, that one will do the job.

All I'm seeing is the Newegg.com main page. You need to change m.newegg to www.newegg in your link.

If it's the Rosewill Green Series RG530-S12, Rosewill has essentially discontinued that series. All that remains on Rosewill's web site for the Green Series is the RG630-S12.
