So im trying to play Rift on my desktop that I built on my own specs are:
-mother board gigabyte 78lmt-s2p
- Processor AMD fx4130 quad-core 2.81Ghz
-Ram 8gigs
-windows 7 pro 64 bit
-ASUS Radeon HD 7870.. witch i just bought today.

When i play it it seems to only get like 30 fps on min video setting but it is still laggy and running it on ultra only gets about 15 fps. this is the same thing i got when i had my asus radeon hd 6670 in my compter.

the game plays just fine on my hp laptop i play on low video setting and get around 30 fps with no lag and my laptop specs are worse then my desktop so i dont see why there is lag. also i can play battle field 3 just fine on ultra around 50-60 fps. please help.

Do you have the latest drivers, or did you use the ones that came with the GPU, is the CPU OCed at all?

Rift is notorious for lagging on everything. It lags on my PC as well during big fights. The fact that you have an AMD CPU as well doesn't help.

Prob just the game itself then, how is it with other games? Keep an eye out for GPU updates, they are always working on the drivers to make the games smoother and better

Sounds like a CPU bottleneck

You can try overclocking, but you will need an aftermarket CPU cooler.
