I recently put together a new computer. My old system was running with a 4000 series radeon hd card with 1gb of on board memory. Only had 4gb of system memory running 32 bit windows 7 with a dual core pentium 4 3.0 ghz processor LGA-775 socket. Specs on my new computer are same processor. New motherboard, (MSI G41M-P33 Combo). New graphics card, (Sapphire HD 7850 OC edition with 2gb gddr5). New memory, (8gb, 2x4gb kit, 1333mhz, GSkill Ripjaws DDR3-1333Mhz F3-10666). Using a 750w ps. My main hard drive is a 160gb sata. Why is everything running slower on what should be an overall faster system? OS is windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Was running 32 bit previously. Also having a lot of issues with installing windows updates.

Solution
ummm so you did not upgrade the CPU the part that makes things faster... You need at least a core 2 quad with that video card to have the least amount off bottlenecking. P4 I just an awful CPU and is holding your setup back big time.

I know I need to upgrade the cpu. Just hoped it would be good enough for now. I guess I expected a slight increase in performance even with the old cpu. Thanks for the response though.
