I'm looking to buy a FX-6300 to pair with something in the GTX 660/760 range. I have a CM seidon 120mm CPU cooler to go with it (got it for $10). I plan on pushing the CPU overclock.. or waiting for another good sale on an i5. But right now I'm leaning towards the lesser but less costly chip. (very disappointed with haswell)

options are (preferred order)
Newegg (no tax, long order history)
amazon
..
other online
Microcenter (about 45 minutes away.. and 8.75% sales tax.. meh)

My only problem is that I'm very out of touch with AMD chipsets. It's a lot to read up on..I'm just looking for a great single card/overclocking board. I prefer one that is either under $100 or on sale often. I can wait. More than that just seems excessive considering the cost versus a cheap i5 + h-series motherboard.

any suggestions are appreciated!
also.. will select best answer (of course) I really appreciate any help.

looks like a great motherboard. Still, it's also pretty expensive. I'm hoping to find something a bit cheaper.

Then again it's also one of the motherboards that microcenter carries. interesting..

thanks. I will consdier it if there isn't a better budget option, but for now i'm still looking.

great answer except it's OOS :< oh man I would have jumped..

I actually looked at that one this morning before work, when it was still full price..
now I get back & of course it's sold out. darn.

I will definitely try to call them in the morning. too good.. I'll toss you the solution for the help. I appreciate it.

thanks.

I just wanted to close the thread before it got too old. I'm pretty sure that Microcenter board you posted is a error. I don't think there are any great budget boards still out there for AM3+.. seems pretty dead.

I just wanted to update that post.

The motherboard really doesn't exist. I checked previous sales & it hasn't ever been below ~180, and it is not stocked in any store. I called in and the SKU is listed as discontinued. too bad :< I will keep looking, but with the low availability of good overclocking boards under the price of a cheap i5 + h55 setup, which would be faster, I'm kind of on hold for now.

thanks for the help. I didn't know AM3+ selection was so.. underwhelming.. when I started.
