Hey everyone,

This is my first build attempt and want to get some input before I go through with it.

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/chewchew/saved/2aWO

I'm thinking about replacing the h100i stock fans with the SP120 Quiets, mounting 4 x AF120 Quiets on the side panel, having the AF120 Performance as the rear exhaust, and then the CM 200 as the front intake. My big question about this is that I'm planning on putting an LED strip inside (NZXT Hue), but don't know whether or not having so many fans will completely negate the LED presence. I'm not expecting to see my components inside, just want to make some nice ambiance coming from within the mesh if I can.

Also, on a somewhat unrelated note, what are people's thoughts regarding the best time to buy parts? I'm totally new to this, so are Black Friday sales worth waiting for? If so, would waiting all of the way until Christmas then be worth it? Or is just snatching good deals when they occur (like the hx750 PSU for $90) the best way to go?

Thank you so much for the help! Any and all advice/recommendations/comments are greatly appreciated :)

No problem! I am glad to help out whenever I possibly can! I used to be in your same position though, wanting to know a lot about hardware and if my build was "satisfactory".

Anyway, I believe two fans on the side should be fine, 4 may be overkill especially if you aren't going SLI, and you want it to look tacky. I would also recommend the 7970 Ghz edition (Probably the Gigabyte Windforce) instead of the 770. It is literally only $30 or so more, and it has way better single card performance than a 770, again if you wanted to go SLI in the future, that would be a different story.

Glad I could help! Good luck!

Oh, and one more thing, Don't get Windows 8, unless you are very confident you're going to like it. I thought it would be...

What is this build going to be for? I need some more information. Do you plan on over clocking? Going SLI/Crossfire in the future? Please just tell me all about it.

I like your idea with the fans and LED strip, it seems that it will setup just fine. The best time to buy parts in MY opinion, is whenever you see the best deals. On Newegg.com, they get some pretty sick deals. Just the other day, the HX750W PSU from Corsair was 40% off and a $10 promotion code AND a $20 MIR...the thing was like $30!! Haha

First and foremost, thanks for your reply!

Yes, I definitely intend on overclocking. As said previously, this is my first build; I'm totally new to overclocking, but it seems like it would be pretty fun/exciting so I figure I'll see what I can do with it. I'm not going to be pushing my components to their absolute limits, but would like to toy around and see what I can get out of them safely. And no, I do not plan on going into SLI in the foreseeable future -- a single 770 should be able to handle all of my current needs. With that said, do you think that having 4 fans on the side panel for 1 graphics card is worth it? I definitely think that I need more than just my 1 x intake and 1 x exhaust + h100i, but I'm wary of only adding 2 fans on the side -- I don't want it to look tacky XD

Thank you again for your help! I will definitely keep my eye out for deals over the next couple of weeks!

custome watercooling kit (xspc raystorm) would be better/nice, very high performance
easy to install, those stock fans are already very quiet, so dont need to replace.

the case nzxt 530 is going to be available soon, you might like it
also the nzxt 810 is a realy nice case

i also own a corsair 600t graphite with window and mesh, its ok but i think there are better alternatives...
but it cost only 90$, awesome deal though

also no fans on the side would be absolutly no problem... the gpu will be pretty cool without them.

i recommend a sapphire hd 7970 for only 290$ far better p/p.
