I'm running an ECS P4M800PRO-M v1.0 according to CPU-Z and dxdiag says there is no sound card or that there is no driver installed. I've been to the ECS website and AMI website (which sent me back to ECS) and was thinking I needed to update the BIOS but really not sure. Is there some way to figure out what is the onboard sound card and to get to their website directly to dl the driver or do i need to update the bios? Thanks!

Solution
If this is your Motherboard It has an on-board sound card.

Realtek ALC655 6-Channel audio CODEC

They should have thought that ,It has to be auto detected by Vista and newer systems, so there is no driver download for some Operating Systems. (there is one for Windows XP) You should try Windows Update etc. You can try realtek website for generic driver.

Add your OS and detailed specs next time ;)

that was my first post, first question, didn't know what info to include...yeah, windows xp dont know what other details are necessary, but I think you hit it on the head. I was considering to go to the realtek website. windows update did not recognize what to do, nor find the hardware...

Thanks for your input! :D
