Hi guys, I am in need of some advice from experienced clever types such as yourselves. I work primarily with 3d design applications such as 3DS Max, Cinema 4D and also use software such as Adobe Photoshop and After Effects, and it's time for a new build. I was advised to go with an overclocked AMD FX build. The reason being that (apparently) it provides very good bang for your buck for people on a budget, such as myself. I would -greatly- appreciate your time if you could look over the components i picked out, and whether you could suggest changes (I'm thinking a better PSU already) . I can probably squeeze out another £50-75 to put toward something if i really had to to ensure better performance. Thanks in advance good people, here it is;

- CPU: AMD FX8320 Black Edition 8 Core 4.0GHz

- Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Motherboard

- Graphics Processing: AMD Radeon HD 7870 Dual-X 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

- Cooling: Corsair CW-9060007-WW Hydro Series H60 Liquid CPU Cooler

- PSU: Cooler Master 500W 12V Elite Power 500 Power Supply Unit

- Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz

- Seagate 750GB Momentus XT HDD/SSD Hybrid internal + Seagate 2TB Expansion Desktop Hard Drive

Are you using this more for games or more for professional designing?
The 7870 is fine but if you're really looking to get a lot of power for designing programs, there's cards that are designed for that (FirePro/Quadro series).

And yes, I believe you absolutely need a better PSU if you're running an overclocked octacore and a powerful AMD card, since the card alone can eat up to 175 watts and overclocking an octacore is a pretty big power drain.

Hi Nico641, i greatly appreciate your reply. It will be used mainly for design purposes and perhaps gaming as a secondary, but gaming really is not my main concern. I have looked into the kind of cards you suggested and despite being more expensive, i would rather wait a few weeks in that case and get a PNY NVIDIA Quadro 2000 or similarly priced card for my designing. And probably a 700watt PSU too to facilitate the OC. Many many thanks for your time Nico.
