I am completely stumped on what kind of monitor I'm going to get for my build. I was hoping to get some suggestions from you guys and hopefully there are some of you out there that had the same indecisive issue as me, and can lend a helping hand.

The conflict that is waging in my head right now is;
120hz 1920x1080p monitor or .. 2560x1440 monitor

Keep in mind I don't have a set budget - I plan on spending a pretty penny on a monitor, but nothing over the top for example forking out 900$+ would just be ridiculous but maybe more in the 500$ area roughly. I'm flexible.

Also keep in mind, I'm more of an mmo gamer as opposed to shooters, so response time may not be as big an issue for me. I'm more drawn to the aesthetics and the true awe of a beautiful color accurate monitor. So I know some of you right off the bat are going to tell me to go for the 2560x1440 resolution IPS panels etc .. no need for 120hz if you're not playing Counter Strike or some type of competitive shooter. But this doesn't solve my problem.
Originally I had this monitor locked in my sights http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014344

The linked monitor is used by many professional and casual gamers, and just about any streamer you see on Twitch (some of you may not know what Twitch but for those that do) i.e Swifty, Reckful .. So I can't help but think that playing on a 500$ monitor with a refresh rate as good as 120hz with a true 1000:1 contrast ratio at 1920x1080p has to look pretty stunning regardless. These guys are using them, so they must look pretty good anyway right?
So I guess my question is, will a 2560x1440 monitor really be that much better looking? will the sacrifice of response time be worth the better resolution even if I'm just playing MMO's? And I've also heard about people getting annoyed with these monitors because alot of web browsing content and videos on Youtube for example aren't calibrated for such a resolution and they look stretched and horrid. I don't even know if 2560x1440 comes in 120hz, and if overclocking one of these to 120hz is possible I wouldn't know the first thing about that. I'm trying to balance response time and picture quality, but I'm leaning more toward picture quality. Someone help!

I have a 2560x1440 Auria so I can answer some of your concerns. I have never seen a website look bad at this resolution. Most of them only take up a small box out of the center or left side, but it doesn't bother me at all. Supposedly you can "overclock" the Korean panels to a faster refresh rate than 60 Hz. I haven't tried it nor do I have one "capable" of doing that so I will leave it at that. I play a mix of games and have never had a problem with the 6.5 ms response time. I've even gotten a few aces in CSGO competitive on it so it must not be affecting me. I have a 5 ms TN monitor and can't tell any difference in response.

I would recommend a 2560x1440 monitor because you will almost never see jaggies again. Even when I have to...

I would recommend a 2560x1440 monitor because you will almost never see jaggies again. Even when I have to turn AA off, Crysis 3 for example, I still don't see them. The monitor seemed overwhelmingly big at first, but after having it for 8 months I couldn't stand to go back to a 23". If you get an offbrand panel expect to spend a couple hours calibrating the colors. Anyway, I hope I answered your questions.
