Windows updated, now my computer won't detect my router

My computer has been connected to the internet through my home router for years, but yesterday windows updated and now my computer sees my home network, registers a wireless and wired connection to it, yet cannot connect to the internet. When I try to use the router software, that package says that it can't detect my router despite my networking tab clearly showing the router's ID and that the router is connected to the net. I'm typing this post through a device connected to the net through that router, so there is internet to be had.

I have checked connections, I have uninstalled the new updates, I have rebooted the modem/router/computer several times. Nothing seems to work. I'm really hoping I can avoid a fresh windows install. Thoughts?

Solution
Also go into the network and sharing center and then manage wireless networks and find your SSID and remove it from the list and try re connecting to it as a brand new connection.

And just to ask, you have other wireless devices that are able to connect and browse?
