Hi there, i just bought myself some new ram that i could throw into my PC, bought 2 sticks of 1600 mhz 4gb kingston. When i tried booting with all my Ram together it wouldn't work, i believe it's due to the fact that my old ram sticks are 1333 mhz. So is there a chance i can use all 4 sticks (2 with 1666 mhz and 2 with 1333mhz) or can i only use one kind, and if i only can use one type how do i change the bios to 1666 mhz because every time i boot with the 1666 mhz sticks i get a blank screen and no power to keyboard, mouse , etc.
I checked if my motherboard is compatible with the new ram sticks and there shoulnd't be a problem.

or is it because the volt aren't right? i tried to change the volt on my new ram to 1.65v but they i still got a blank screen

  • * Motherboard: m4a785td-v evo from asus
    * New ram sticks: 2x4096MB DDR3 1600 MHz Kingston 1.65v
    * Old Ram Sticks: 2x2048MB DDR3 1333 MHz Kingston 1.5v

some amd cpu restraint the use of 1600 memory stick even if amd tel it work ,try the new stick in the first channel at 133 this should work after had the 1333 in the second channel your system will work at the lowest speed of hte memory 1333 .

so you don't think it's because of the volts?

how do i do that, since my bios just have a couple of options and the default one is "auto" and i set it to manual i can choose between 400mhz and 800 which is kinda confusing since my old is running 1333 mhz

i tried to only using one of the new sticks and used tried all the 4 slots, but none of them worked, then i tried with the other stick and nothing happened, do you think it would work if i used the old sticks to enter the bios and then enter the settings for the new sticks, then turn of my PC and swap the old with the new sticks

i tried to do the cmos with the cable cord pulled but nothing seemed to work, but i found out that the Bios will reset by doing so, so i cant change the settings in the bios the insert the new voltage, then restart with the new sticks.

u can run all 4 but u will underclock the 1600s and that's NOT recommended since that will simply cut down their life span TERAMENDOUSLY , anyway u have to let ur CMOS adapt first , power down remove the power cable , remove the rams , then remove the battery for 20 seconds , put the battery back in and then the rams and see what happens, can always redo ur settings in the bios manually if that helped fix the problem
