I just recently received a new PC from my Uncle after my old one gave out. I want to upgrade the video card and any other components deemed upgradable and was wondering what opinions and advice anybody might have. Thanks in advance. Here are my specs:
Dell XPS 720
Windows 7 64 bit
Motherboard:Dell 0U723D A01 Nividia Chipset nForce 680i SLI
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40Ghz
Memory: 4GB DDR 2
Video Card: GeForce GTX 280
Power Supply: 1000W

Almost anything you can get that would be better is going to be bottlenecked by the CPU. If you could overclock it (with decent cooling) to about 3.0 Ghz it would help a lot. Even still, nothing higher than an HD 7850 or GTX 650 Ti Boost would make sense (and those will be held back somewhat by the CPU).

Thanks for the reply! I haven't slightest idea how to overclock and when it comes to cooling, the PC has two fans in it and I have an extra fan blowing into it as well, but don''t know if that's enough. I was just thinking of the GTX 650 Ti Boost but didn't know if the CPU would bottleneck that up or not. Is there a good GeForce card that is significantly better than the one I have that wont bottleneck the CPU overclocked or not? Thanks!
