Approximate Purchase Date: 4 Weeks

Budget Range: 1200 Before Rebates, I don't care for rebates and don't hassle with them

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming and Youtube

Are you buying a monitor: NO

Do you need to buy OS: NO

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg & Amazon

Location: Alabama, United States of America

Parts Preferences: Intel/NVIDIA

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: NO! I am not interested in microstuttering

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 27"

Additional Comments: I would like to overclock the PC. I need to be able to run DayZ, Total War games, World of Warcraft with zero lag

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: The PC I am on right now will be a gift for my family and is not very good, only a a8-5600k with 8 gigs that doesn't meet the demands I need for games I love.

Questions: I would like to see this computer last for at least 2 years and be able to run games on playable and enjoyable settings.

I am kind of twisted on getting an i5 or an i7, I know that i5 is better for gaming since games do not utilize hyperthreading technology of the i7 but I read somewhere that game makers will be forced to use more cores due to the next-gen consoles...

Also - I have 7.1 G930 Surround Sound headset. Will I need to get a dedicated soundcard to get the highest quality sound or will the motherboard suffice?

Thanks so much!

Future games need more threads and since the budget allows better go for i7.

GTX 770 should be powerful for a couple of yrs, both on capacity(4GB) and performance.

I'd go with something similar to yours he doesn't need a i7. Also, if you'd like to get a larger air cooler you may want to consider moving towards a low profile kit. Furthermore, cases are subjective so you may want to take a look at cases and see what you like. I personally am really happy with my Fractal Design Define R4 so I'd say maybe take a look at that.
