Hello all

Recently I've been having a problem with my computer freezing and black screening during most multiplayer and some singleplay games such as Counter strike, Starcraft 2 and Dota 2. I just build a new pc about 5 or 6 days ago and have had this problem on this new pc, all my drivers are up to date for both my graphics card and my chipset. Messed around with variables and registry editor but to no avail any help would be great.

Specs:
Radeon hd 7770 - Graphics card
Amd FX 6300 - Processor
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97/ - motherboard
windows 7 32 bit (accidentally got it instead of 64 bit)
8gb corsair vengeance ram

The screen goes black freezes my computer and i have to restart my computer, there are no error messages or anything of the sort just black screen and then freeze.

oh yeah with your windows 7 you can install 64bit and use the same key from your 32 bit copy, you jsut need an iso from the win7 forums.

http://www.w7forums.com/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-imag... just grab the correct iso.

cpu - 23
graphics card - 37
hard drive - 27

think it might be driver related, might be better to just grab the windows 7 64bit iso and start fresh since you can full use all the ram in your system and gpu then, you also might want to update your bios to the latest also.

if you have 2x4GB stick of ram, try 1 stick in the pc at a time, it could be a dodgy stick of ram

okay a specific description of my problem during battlefield 3. I'll play for a while maybe 30-40 minutes and eventually the screen will go black but will still be on, then it will turn off, turn back on and still be black; this will continue to happen, flickering between on with a black screen and off.

just double check what motherboard you have and that you're getting the correct bios.

also you might want to update to a previous bios before the newest first incase its something funny with the current bios, but one thats newer than what you have.

I think the 7770 may be faulty then, any chance you can try it in another PC?"

Try an old gpu if you have one or another power supply also.

Something that may help before physical stuff is update your sound drivers to latest, if they are realtek ghetto them from realteks site.
