I went to speedtest.com on mine and my sister's laptop and the results were the same; yet my computer loads up pages much slower than hers. Restarting the router and modem only fixes the problem for a little while then it starts up again. Which leads me to believe that it's a problem with my computer, but what is the problem? I checked for viruses and have none.

We were both using google chrome, both wireless connection, the ping times were the same for the same server on pingtest.net. Both computers are laptops.
My specs are:
Vaio E Series VPCEA16FA
Intel Core i5 M520 2.40 GHz
4.00 RAM
Her specs:
Toshiba
Intel Core i5 3210M 2.50GHz
4.00 RAM

I don't know what you mean by temp internet files and cache, and since she doesn't either i'm going to assume that neither of us did it.

I don't know if this affects what you said in any way, but the internet seems to slow down particularly when watching streams or playing online games. As in I would be watching a stream in 720p all fine, then it starts lagging and freezing suddenly after which it eventually goes back to normal. Also while playing League of Legends my ping spikes up to massive numbers and stays like that for a long time, thus rendering the game unplayable. It also happens while browsing the internet randomly but not as frequently. This to my knowledge does not occur on my sister's laptop. Nevertheless I will try the steps mentioned and will post back with my results.

It has definitely started recently. The computers are in the same room as the router. I have not tried connection my computer to an Ethernet cable but I will try that and post my results. When checking the network speed I noticed that while hers stays at a constant 54 kbps mines drops down to as low as 2 kbps which is what I think is causing the problem.

I think this is the solution I am looking for but it is late today so I will try it tomorrow; and to answer your question yes my laptop is near a cordless phone but the base is in a different location. Does that make a difference? Anyways thank you very much for your help and I will post back tomorrow with results if any.

Alright I did what you suggested and it worked perfectly I ordered a new card and its coming in the mail now. Thanks alot for your help honestly. I was going to call a specialist but you saved me alot of money so thanks :D . But now I have another problem; my computer seems to be freezing up randomly, and it just stays frozen and i have to manually restart it and it's a chore. I was wondering if it's a virus but i did a full scan with avast and it showed nothing wrong so I don't know what's the problem.
