Hello,
I bought a server with 8x 1 TB hard drives with the model number WDC WD1000FYPS-01ZKB0 connected to a PERC 5i RAID controller card. I configured the array to work as either a RAID 0 or a RAID 10, and I am getting from 500 MB/s all the way down to 70 MB/s and even sometimes 2 MB/s. What is going on?
The primary purpose is to make a storage server, plus decent access to it via the network. I know that the network is only 100 MB/s over gigabit.
I know that GreenPower drives are the worst to be used in a RAID array but these hard drives are designed for RAID, so I am not sure if this is the issue.
So could anyone help me out with getting this to work correctly? All I want is a redundant 4 TB file server which has at least 200-300 MB/s read and write, that way I can use it on my network and also do full offline backups without any slowdowns.
