Hi, I use one screen at 1900x1200 currently with a single Gainward GTX770 4GB and am going to get a second 770. Can I get a 770 from a different brand and does it also have to be 4GB or can it be the 2GB version?

Thanks in advance!

Can I ask what you are using the PC for that you need a second 770?.
You can use a graphics card from another manufacturer but I would not recommend it. Sometimes the manufacturers change the PCB from the stock to enhance performance and there is a chance of compatibility issues, but if you are able to find out what PCB your card uses and as long as it is the stock you should be fine.

The problem with using a 4gb card and a 2gb card is when 2 cards are in SLI you do not get 6GB of Vram you get the maximum amount built onto each individual card, so 2 4gb cards would mean each card has a maximum of 4gb so it would be 4gb of vram, but if you had 1 2gb and 1 4gb card, the maximum card 1 can hold is 2gb so card 2 would have to reduce its Vram to 2gb.

Also what motherboard do you have?
What is your Power supply?

I'm sorry if that is difficult to understand, it's very late :p

EDIT: Mismatched Ram configs does not always work its a gamble, you can mix cards, PCB's don't make a difference, the only thing that matter with Nvidia is that they are both the same, Ex. 2 660's, 2 770's etc...

This is my current PC:

i5-4670k
GTX770 4GB
GA Z87X D3H
1 x 8GB DDR3 1600
GS800W PSU

I'm planning on using the PC for heavy gaming such as BF4, Crysis, Tomb Raider, Metro Last Light.

I would recommend sticking with what you have and save the money for an upgrade next year to the GTX 870? I have the GTX670 and I cannot find anything that will max out this card, so 2 GTX 770's will be overkill really. You can get them and get ridiculous frames that you won't even notice, or save your money and invest in more ram, an SSD etc. I wouldn't spend my money on this, and I use my PC 10 hours a day and most of it is in a game.

I guess I can wait until BF4 and other titles come out and see if I can run them on max and live with the results.
