I've been wondering lately. In the PSU I've got the ATX cord splits into 2 ends, I've managed to plugged one of them correctly but I've plugged the other one I've only plug half of it into the socket with the other half of the 2 connector pins sticking out in the air right beside the CPU power socket and tried to power on my PC. Many thanks.

If it shorts it could potentially damage the motherboard and the PSU. Also to do this you would have to force it in as the plugs shaped to try and prevent that from happening.

For some reason it fitted in without any resistance, my computer case was small and dark to see and I ended up plugging in one of the ATX cords only half of it in with the other half sticking out. Would you recommend buying another PSU just to be safe? Many thanks.

If it never actually powered on, you might be ok, have you tried powering it on with the both sides of the EPS plugged in correctly?

@bignastyid
I tried replugging it again but it still won't boot up : / or maybe my mobo is dead in the first place

Lol reminds me of the time when I was in Asia and forgot to change the PSU's input conversion to 220v, had a nice mini fireworks show blowing up from the inside of my case ;)

If only half the plug was in as long as it was reversed, it shouldn't have damaged anything. Have you tried the paperclip test?
