This is my build (everything is already purchased and done). I need some help installing Windows 8. Now I'm not stupid, I can follow the on screen instructions. I'm talking about Windows 8 is up and running, is there any software I should install right away and run to make sure Windows 8 runs at maximum capacity (besides drivers)? It is running kind of sluggish now. I'm thinking it's the hard drive I am running it off of but I'm not completely sure.

Solution
If It been less then 30 days try and return the gt 220 the gt 640 or the 7750/7770 cards are faster and use less power. For new build check the bios rev of the mb. Make sure it has all of the updates. On windows pc you have to install the motherboard chipset drivers. Use the newest ones from amd web page. Then reboot and install the nvidia gpu drivers. In the bios make sure the Sata chipset set to achi mode and use Cpuz to make sure the CPU and ram are running at the right speed. Most amd mb with 1600 ram may default to 1333 speed. May have to set the ram speed yourself in the bios.

So I set my hard drives from IDE to ACHI and the BIOS booted up and everything but then Windows failed and the computer restarted. I'm in the process of restoring Windows now, what did I do wrong? Do I need to install Windows after I reset that protocol (which isn't a problem as I haven't loaded anything into Windows other than drivers)?
