AMD FX 6350 Overclocking Help!! Can't Get Stable!

Hi, I'm trying everything I know to get this overclock stable but it doesn't seem to be working. I was hoping some of the experts here would have a solution.

The processor i'm overclocking is an AMD FX-6350. It comes stock at 3.9Ghz and i managed to get it up to 4.5Ghz but only after spiking the CPU voltage way up. at 4.7 the games shut down.

Motherboard im overclocking with is an Msi 970A G46 with 125W CPU Support
I've yet to touch the CPU NB Voltage because i'm not sure the right setting.

Ram is Corsair vengeance and Its stock is 1600 and even underclocked to 1520 it still shuts down so i dont think the ram is the issue. (stock voltage)

Its at 888 (1775Mhz) right now but i also tried it at 760 (1520Mhz) 1600Mhz Default and same game crashes.

I have the same mobo and it can't push too hard. The 4+2 power phase is what is the limiting factor, for a higher overclock at this point you should try to as Saloomi said get better cooling and then try to push the multiplier a few notches or if that does not work try raising the base clock. For cooling depending on your budget and case there are several options but I would recommend these: Cooler Master Hyper 212+ (or Evo), Phanteks PH-TC14CS, Xigmatek Dark Knight, Corsair H80, Corsair H100, any Cooler Master Eisberg series cooler, or Swiftech H220. Check which of those is in your budget (and goes well with/fits in your case and motherboard.

Edit: I have the FX-6300 so it should not be that much different in my experience I hit a wall at 4.5 but it must not have been my lucky day when I went to buy it. Also if you want just pure clockspeeds try disabling 1 module to change it to a quad core and you will be able to hit higher clocks.

I tried what you said and raised the multiplier slightly while putting the base clock down which still achieves same performance and no shutdowns so that did it. I also raised the voltage a very slight amount. Btw the Cooler you recommended (The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo) Is the exact cooler i happen to be using right now :p and yes it does fit in my case lol. The case is an NZXT Phantom 410 so it fits with perfection. Just one last question seeing as you have my same Mobo, do you know where in the bios you can change the RAM timings?

There should be an item called Memory-Z, it requires you scroll down to the bottom of the OC tab. Your BIOS look s bit different from mine however so I might have an outdated version and need an update. If you can't find that then I am not sure where else to look.

set cpu volts to 1.52-1.55 NB to 1.25-1.275 HT to1.125-1.150 Set you core control to manual, or disabled if offered. IF you have load line calibration, set cpu nb and ht settings to max offered. reboot, also,if you have 2 sticks of ram, put 1 in slot closest to cpu, and the other skipped out to 3rd slot from cpu for dual channel mode. leave cpu base clock alone! set multiplier up only( more stable results) set NB to 2400, HT to 2200at this point, you can safely set cpu multi to 23x, and with GOOD air cooling, or decent water cooling, should now be able to get stable higher clocks you want. also ram timing control on yours is called advanced DRAM config.Good luck.
