Hello to everyone.
I was looking to buy a new cpu on the internet for gaming only(my old one sucks) and i found two very interesting cpus. The AMD Athlon ii x4 750k and the AMD a6 6400k and i don't know which one to buy. The Athlon ii has a quad core 3.40GHz but the A6 has a dual core but with 3.90GHz. So i was wondering which one should i buy. They are nearly the same price but remember i only buying them to play games especially with the Next Gen consoles comming up. So which one is better.

A few years back, the answer would have been a fast dual core. But now, games are starting to correctly use more than 2 cores, and with next-gen games having at least 6 cores to work with, it will only get better.

So, the quad core is better.

It depends on ur configuration

If u have a graphics card then a 750k/760k is a great processor for u and they can even be o.c. To higherclocks by a cheap 30$ cooler

But if u dont have a gpu a10 is great for u

Yeah I was wanting to buy the quad core one. The sides right now games do not need a cpu with a really high clock like the one with 3.90 GHz. A 3.40 GHz cpu is fine and will be for the next 3 years at leas. Thanks for the reply anyway!

I settled to buy the Athlon ii x4 3.40GHz.
Hopefully it will be able to support the games at high quality within the next 3-4 years. Thanks for the answers!!!!!!!!

Yes i have, but it's pretty old. However i am counsiduring buying the radeon HD 6850, i herd it's a great card and it's very cheap- $100

It's great but it's also more expensive in my country so i guess i'm gonna stick with the 6850 and they are nearly equal at performance.

Both these cpus are not designed for gaming. An i3 hyper threaded dual core will destroy both at games. The a6 6400 is there to compete against celerons in terms of cpu performance. The x4 750 has ok scores cpu wise similar to an i3 3220 but the i3 3220 is better for next gen games.

Actually i disagree if you take a look it is speculated that the ps4's cpu will have 2.75GHz clock speed. I think that the anthol ii x4 750k will be able to run the next gen games
