Try pressing ctrl+alt+delete under Applications select "new task" type in explorer and press enter. you should see your background image and the taskbar as well as your icons. This is a temporary fix since it only starts that process and not other crucial processes. If you have the recovery disk that came inside the box your laptop came in, open your dvd drive and place it in then restart the computer and hit f8 repeatedly till you get windows boot options, now click system repair and it will reinstall windows. It is going to delete everything in your windows directory and make it like you just got the laptop.
