So I am going to buy a new processor. It's either 4770 or an amd one. So my system's a i5 3470, XFX R7870 and 8gigs of crucial balistix sport and a WD Green 1tb. So what do you recommend? The i7 or an amd processor? I use my system for gaming and 3d editing. So what's the best?

becouse vid editing i would say the 4770, however paying less for a 4670K and a good cooler might be worth it, being only 3-6$ more then a 4670. That amd metal isnt very good ATM

I forgot to mention that I am using a Deepcool Ice Blade Pro for cooling.

Okay lemme add some more details about my situation. I am selling my current mobo (MSI B75MA-P45) and proc (i5 3470) to a friend who has been suffering with an amd semprom for years and he is into gaming too. So I am also helping an old chap to have some decent experience in gaming. I plan to buy a mobo that could support at lest two video cards. Cause I plan to do cross-fire in the near future. So which is better? Get a 3770 with a mobo compatible for it?

Kinda sucks using his setup. A sempron (idk what model), 3 gigs of ddr2 ram and a gtx 9800. I'm guessing his proc is the huge bottle neck here. Vid card's going to be obsolete soon. Since DX11 is being used in a majority of games right now.

Yes, get a 3770k if you go Intel...

Though if you're budget conscious...the 8350 is 90-95% of the performance of the 3770k for significantly less money. It's also very good at 3D editing and would even be better at it than your current 3470 by quite a large margin.

Yes, by a wide margin the 3770 is FAR more bang for your buck.
