I recently built a computer and when I turn the psu on the standby light on my motherboard comes on but if I press the power button nothing happens? Here's my build:
Mobo: asus M5A97 R2.0
CPU: AMD FX 8-core processor black edition
Heatsink: stock
Case: aerocool predator x3
Psu: Corsair CX600M
Graphics: XFX R7870 core edition
HDD: 1TB western digital blue
SSD: 120GB Kingston ssdNow 300
Ram: corsair 8GB XMS3 DDR3

Solution
do you have a small black round thing(speaker) that should've came with your case/mobo? If you do, plug it in and turn on your system, and check if you plugged the power on cable into the right slot on the mobo. Check the motherboard manual for this info, and double check your ram, gfx, and cpu if they are installed correctly. After you do all of the above and plug the speaker in, tell me how many beeps it tells you

check cpu, if it is positioned right, take it off and look at the pins and see if they are bent(BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL!!!!) if they are perfect, you might have a defective part in you build that you don't know about. You really need to get that speaker to know which one it is.

Hi just follow this step

unplug all, Remove MB out of CABIN.

Place it on a Anti-Static cover and plug just CPU RAM and PSU.

FIND out front panel power pinnout. Now sort it to power on.

If nothing happens just plug another PSU and tell me

if the CPU fan is not rotating May be this is due to MB problem. For the final time please change it to another SMPS, check the CPU power connector is properly connected. Check CPU fan is connected in CPU fan pinnout not in chassis fan pinnout. if not working don't waste your time go for warranty.
