Hi all,

This fall I am setting up the internet for my student house where I will be leaving for 8 months during the school year. I live in Ontario in Canada. We need a solid all purpose router.

Our internet speeds are the following:
15Mbps DL
2 Mbps UL
Unlimited Usage

The following will be connecting to the router at any given time (and possibly all of these at once, though I doubt that will really happen).
6 Laptops (up to 3 may alternatively use a wired connection)
1 Desktop (wired)
1 PS3
1 Xbox 360
6 smartphones

The main uses will be browsing, youtube, downloading, netflix and online gaming (starcraft II, COD on the desktop PC and the PS3/360).

I realize that is a lot of connections. I also realize the internet connection may be the limiting factor, although, that could change because it was not purchased on a contract.

The house itself is 3 floors and about 1800 square feet and we need the signal in >90% of the house.

I've been told on other forums that dual-band routers would be best because it will allow the cell phones and maybe some other devices to connect to the 5GHz band and not interrupt the more involved usage of the 2.4GHz devices (PCs, gaming etc.)

As such, I've narrowed it down to these on sale items at my local computer store. I don't want to spend much more than that:

Linksys EA-2700 (refurbished): $20 http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=2...
TP-LINK TL-WDR3500: $50 http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=2...
ASUS RT-N53: $55 http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=2...
D-Link DIR-826L: $55 http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=2...
TP-Link TL-WDR4300: $80 http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=2...
Linksys E4200V2 (refurb): $60 http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=2...
D-Link DIR-857: $85 http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=2...

What do you think?
Thanks in advance!!

Can you get Buffalo routers in Canada?

If so, I have had good success with them, and they often come with or can be flashed to DD-WRT.

I'm currently using a Buffalo N300 series Air Station and it has been a real workhorse. Keeps a rock solid connection and has kept a couple gaming servers up 24x7 for 2+ years now.
