Red theme, going to OC, dual monitor down to road, some video editing, app making
Questions:
*i7 or i5- i7 seems to be better if you dabble into other stuff besides gaming.
*Cooler overkill?
*8gb ram or 16?
*dual monitor - 4 gb gpu? I plan on adding another in a few years when games start pushing it

Any other suggestions? I don't need the red theme. I just went with it after I picked a few parts.

i5 is great for gaming. i7 isn't currently really utilized at all.
8GB of RAM is plenty.
Use 3 monitors not 2!
Liquid cooling is really only needed if you either A) want it for how quiet it is or B) want to go crazy with overclocking
I would encourage you to look at a Seasonic or Corsair power supply in the 650W range if you're looking for only 1 Graphics card.
I prefer Win7 over Win8.
Not really much of an opinion on the graphics card. I don't know enough about the current high end cards to say you shouldn't get that one and should get such and such instead. Someone will probably chime in and suggest dual 760's in SLI over that single 770 though.

Edited to add. Below is my current system configuration

i5-3570K @ 4.2Ghz
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Motherboard
8GB PC1600 RAM
HIS IceQ Turbo 3GB 7950 Graphics Card
Samsung 840 Series 120gb SSD
Seasonic 620W Powersupply

I'm comfortably running 3 screens on high settings with what I have.

*i7 or i5- i7 seems to be better if you dabble into other stuff besides gaming.
only pick i7 if you make money from video editing. otherwise, i5 will be decent

*Cooler overkill?
i dont think so, but most people will just buy cheap 212 evo

*8gb ram or 16?
16GB will be very helpful on reducing rendering time

*dual monitor - 4 gb gpu? I plan on adding another in a few years when games start pushing it
i dont think 4GB will add more fps on 2 monitor gaming. maybe in triple monitor gaming
gaming across 2-3 monitor isnt very convenient, better you game only on 1 lcd and use dual lcd only at daily usage

Ncasolo,

Thanks for the reply.

I want a 700+ psu in case I need to add another 770 after 3-4 years. I just went with OCZ cause it was red color with most of my other components. I'm going to stick with w8.

Thanks AMD,

I'll go with an i5. Could I get a cheaper cooler? Like H60?

If you're editing videos and doing auto cad you'll actually be able to benefit from the i7. Rather than wish you had an i7 I say spend the money. I actually say start with 8GB of RAM, but only because it is an easy upgrade.

I would defer to the power supply experts, but I am not so sure about the quality of OCZ units.

In terms of liquid cooling you can definitely go cheaper, but I've never actually used that myself so again I'll defer to someone who has more knowledge in that area.

3 screen gaming is awesome. Especially on racing games.

the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme is actually slightly better than the H110i.
I've included a nice red LED case fan for the front of the PC :p
Switched the mobo for a similar SLI capable board. (except doesn't meet your red requirements, sorry :( )
Switched the PSU for a high quality seasonic semi-modular one. (not red either :( )
Graphics card for a slightly higher clocked version for the same price (but if your doing a red theme it won't really fit).
ram up to 16GB (not red again X@ )

ignore my build actually its not very red at all xD

[EDIT]:

here more red:

Hey thanks! I just went with red since I had a few parts. It doesn't need to be red. I just went with it since the first few components were red.

Shoot you could get by with an i3 or an AMD CPU and still be capable of running the applications. Some of them will run them smoother and faster than others. An i5 will do just fine if you're not using those applications a lot.
