Besides clock speed and turbo boost, the ARK Intel spec pages say that the 3337u does not have "Intel Clear Video HD Technology" and the 3317u does, the 3337u uses a different socket, and according to CPU Boss, the 3317u does not have SSE4 extension.

hmm but which one do you think is better?
Better or more powerful? Which notebooks are you looking at? If it was down to just the CPUs, the 3337u is clearly faster but not by much. You will never notice the 100 MHz difference. If the 3317u laptop is cheaper, then it is better. Maybe show us which two laptops you have narrowed it down to and based on the other features besides the CPU, we can help you choose the better one.
Well the price is a bit different however the only thing that is different is this case is that the second laptop has an
i3-3217U not an i5. other than that they are the same
First laptop
- Asus X550CC
- Intel® Core™ i5-3337U
- 6 GB DDR3 RAM
- 750 HDD
- Nvidia Geforce GT 720M
The second laptop
- Asus X550CC
- Intel® Core™ i3-3317U
- 6 GB DDR3 RAM
- 750 HDD
- Nvidia Geforce GT 720M
The i3 3217u has the same clock speed as the 3337u and the same number of threads (4) and cores (2), but unlike the i5's, it does have turbo boost so it is stuck at 1.8 GHz. That extra 900 MHz will make a difference in demanding apps and games. But, that extra power also means a lower battery life. If you are just browsing and watching videos, the i3 is perfect, if you are gaming and doing some heavier stuff, the i5 is definitely worth an extra $150.
