Hi there,i bought a pc 3 years ago,and i decided to upgrade it with some RAM.It already has 2x 4GB ddr3 12800s and 1600 mhz i believe....I debated about adding a 8 gb stick or 2x 4 gb sticks....My motherboards (P8H67) ram slots are a bit weird to me.My old motherboard(From older pc) had 4 black ram slots,however 2 of these are black and 2 are blue.
The new ram i bought has 1333 mhz and one of them is a 4 gb kingston one,and the other is 4 gb take ms one.They're twice the height of my current ram sticks so that was a bit weird to me...
After putting them in the blue slots i had no video output,and the mouse/keyboard weren't working.I then pulled out the new ram and it still wasn't working...I then put the new ram in the black slot and the old ram in the blue slot,however i also pressed the memOK button,which i think is the reason it booted.It took ages to boot and it asked me if i want to start system repair,to which i said start windows normally....It always takes ages to boot so it's nothing new...It reads the whole 16 GB ram but it still bugs me that the 1333 mhz ram is in the black slots,i want them in blue and the 1600 mhz in black...Do you know why there was no video output after i put in the ram?
Also another side question...Does it matter if i use 2 different 4 gb sticks in a laptop?I have a 1600 mhz one and a 1333 mhz one in my laptop currently...Thanks!
