hello and im not entirely sure if this is the right place to be posting this but thank you in advance for all who take the time and answer. Yesterday i was downloading battlefield 3 dlc and randomly my computer shut off. I turned it back on only to find a screen that said something about asus power surge protection or warning, I was only able to see it for a few seconds before it shut off again. I built this computer back in april for gaming and it was sitting for 2 months not getting used because i was in basic military training however im out and had it shipped here. When it first arrived it wouldnt turn on either. The fans would turn for about a second then stop. I removed a stick of ram and then it booted up and worked fine for a few days (it arrived here on the 12th of august). It has been performing perfectly up until yesterday when it randomly shut off displaying a power surge warning. Since then I've tried removing everything and trying to get it to post and every time the fans will spin for a second and stop which leads me to believe it could be a problem with the power supply or motherboard. ironically enough im going to school and just finished learning how to troubleshoot power supplies but im not exactly a professional in anyway yet. Im just curious what direction i should go in now. Should i buy a new power supply and try to see if that solves it. Nothing felt hot when i opened it up. Im not entirely sure what to do now im sort of stuck. Again thank you for any possible solutions. I see that most of the people who answer take their time to correctly diagnose an issue without eyes on so i appreciate the help. Specs are as follows

CPU- Intel Core i5-3570K
Motherboard- ASUS P8Z77-V
Memory- CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB
Hard Drive- Western Digital 1TB 7200rpm
Video Card- EVGA GeForce GTX 680 2GB
Power Supply- XFX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V

i also have a cooler master hyper 212 evo and a 240gb ssd.

This message is shown when motherboard detects some power spikes. It usually indicates PSU problems. This is where I would start. Test it with another PSU (borrow it from a friend or something), see if it starts and how it behaves under load (prime95, gaming).

Your XFX should have 5 years warranty.
