Which is better and faster than the other?

AMD Phenom ii x4 965 3.4GHz Black Edition ($137.59)

Or the AMD FX-6350 6-Core Black Edition 3.9GHz ($139.99)

I've been hearing mixed reviews about these CPU's and i was originally going for the Phenom II since everyone i knew said that it was very fast, but now im hearing that the FX-6350 is much better in terms of performance and speed. Is that true?

this is a comparison of the 6300 and phenom II x4 965BE (the 6350 is just a lucky 6300 that was factory oc'ed)

as you can see the 6300 wins in most cases so the 6350 is the better cpu. you could just get the 6300 and overclock it to match and save 20 bucks, you'd probably want a cooler, not stock so if you already plan on getting a cooler and dont plan to oc much i'd just get the 6300, or for the same price (maybe 10 more dollars) the 8320 is also there and a pretty nice cpu.

Oh yes. I have a FX-6300 in one rig, and a Phenom II 970 in the other, and even with the FX a step down from the 6350 and the Phenom a step up from the 965, the FX will run circles around the phenom. The phenom was great in its day, but the updated architecture and extra cores make the FX-6000's much snappier, and a great deal. Way faster at rendering/transcoding, and they run way cooler for great overclocking potential (my 6300 is at 4.1 GHz right now with no problem at all).
