Computer Suddenly Freezes

My computer freezes for some unknown reason. Usually happens at least once a day. It is very annoying. Sometimes, even the cursor changes to a bright yellow color with red dots around it. Usually when that happens the PC still somewhat functions, but other times it just freezes all together. The sounds still plays sometimes too, but I cannot do anything other than hard resetting. Ctrl, Alt, Del does nothing.

So I am wondering if this is the CPU, Ram, HDD, or PSU. When I assembled the PC, I did a Prime 95 test for 10+ hours and it was fine, but that was about 2 years ago. I cannot figure out how to overclock with this MOBO so I used the MOBO OC Genie to Overclock to 4.2 Ghz and it is always running at 4.2Ghz.

My dad's PC is almost an identical build. Except his MOBO is different, being a newer chipset (Z77). I like his MOBO more because I can manually overclock to 4.2 Ghz and when it idles, it stays at about 1.6 Ghz and only goes to 4.2 when it needs to (Does only the Z77 chipsets to that, or can the P67's do that too?). I do not know if that way is better overall or what, but his PC has no problems.

So Overall: Does anyone know how to overclock manually with the MSI P67-GD65 MOBO or is OC Genie good enough and I can leave it running constantly @ 4.2Ghz?

I have not done a Memtest yet with my RAM so I'll keep this updated. I have also read that there might be something wrong with the Registry, what is that and how to you fix it?

How can I test the PSU if it is the problem? I doubt it is the PSU's fault since I have had only one PSU that made a clicking sound and it caused my very old PC to freeze, but I do not hear anything from my Corsairs.

What other hardwares could fail, that could only result in computer freezes/crashes?

So, that's about it. If anyone can help I really appreciate it. Thanks!

sounds like the gpu is on the way out. could be all sorts of things tho. I would put it all back to stock clocks and see what happens.

Yeah I'd say put it at stock levels and run it awhile and see if it freezes.

The GPU is already running at stock speed. What could the GPU do to cause it to freeze? I thought all this time if anything it would be the CPU?

Ok, so I returned the CPU to stock settings and it can still freeze sometimes. Is this CPU's life running short or can the HDD affect it? For example, I have a 1TB HDD and it's about 90% filled, but I plan to reinstall Windows into an SSD and get another 3TB HDD to help it out. Does anyone know how to overclock the CPU manually with the MSI P67-GD65 instead of using the OC Genie. I have used the OC Genie and my CPU stays at a constant of 4.2 Ghz. Or...is this MOBO not good?
