Hey i have a core 2 duo processor right now and an nvidia geforce gt 630 graphics card. I am looking to upgrade that to an nvidia GTX 760. I was wondering if you guys could help and tell me of the cheapest CPU that wouldn't bottleneck the GTX 760 as i do have a small budget. Thanks for the help.

Your Core 2 Duo E-8400 while running at 3.0ghz is a LGA 775 socket and that means you either get a better CPU in that socket type or change out the motherboard along with the CPU. The problem is that the LGA socket is quite old and not readily available, mostly on Ebay. There are some quad core CPUs that are socket 775 but you'll have to look at your motherboards specifications to see which ones are supported. If it supports the core 2 quad then you can see if it will support this one.

What you should do is get your video card and put it in and see what you get for issues and if there is any bottlenecking. If there is then you can raise the FSB a bit (basicly overclocking the CPU and RAM) and see if that removes the bottleneck. The GTX 760 needs a 500w power supply to be in your computer. Meanwhile if your able to use the new card you can save up and get a CPU , Motherboard and RAM for an upgrade.

What is your motherboard brand and model that you have now ?

Cheapest CPU that won't bottleneck that GPU would probably be an FX 6300. No matter what you go with for what you are wanting, a new board will be necessary. If you have a ddr3 core 2 board, that ram could be reused for an AMD rig. In a modern Intel rig, early ddr3 voltage may be too high.
